Enhancing the Legacy

About 20 years ago, a Stadium Beautification Committee was formed with the intent of making sure Huron Memorial Stadium would continue to be  a showcase of athletic accomplishment and a place of honor for our proud community.  Through the hard work and dedication of that original committee and many volunteers who shared that same vision, our stadium has become both a great place for our student/athletes to compete and a “memorial stadium” in the purest of forms.  In fact, our facility has hosted decades of memorable athletic events, and, at present, there are close to one hundred dedications to Huron families, soldiers, classes, and teams- dedications that will remain forever parts of the hearts and minds of those involved.

It is with that same vision that the Stadium Beautification Committee and the Huron Athletic Booster Club has been re-energized with the primary goal of replacing the existing grass field with new synthetic, all-weather surface.  This improvement will allow the “Home of the Huron Tigers” to accommodate expanded school programming and community based activities, thereby converting the stadium facility into a true community asset with virtual year-round use.

As a contributor, you donation will be used to enhance the legacy for generations to come.  Whether you are an alumnus of Huron High School, a parent of a Huron Tiger, or a supporter of the student/athletes of Huron City Schools, your donation will enhance the experiences for future generations of students and members of the Huron Community.

We encourage each and every donor to take the time to revisit Huron Memorial Stadium to experience the legacy of those memorialized over the years.  It is an incredible accomplishment of dedication and respect.  The Huron  Athletic Booster Club is a non-profit, tax-exempt 501c3 organization.  All donations are tax deductible.

F.A.Q.s

Q.  What does it mean, “No Huron City Schools tax dollars will be used” in the purchase of synthetic turf.
A.  There will be no taxpayer funds expended from the Huron School District.  The purchase of all field-related enhancements (field prep, drainage, synthetic turf and turf installation ) will be from funds raised exclusively by the Huron Booster Club, a private, tax-exempt organization.

Q.  Once the field project is completed and then donated back to the Huron City School District, what can we expect in additional annual maintenance costs?
A.  None!  In fact, annual maintenance costs will drop by about $15,000 per year with a synthetic field surface.

Q.  Who will oversee the fund-raising and construction for this project?
A.  The Huron Booster Club is a non-profit, 501(c)3, tax-exempt organization that will be responsible for the completion of the project.

Q.  Are my donations tax-deductible?
A.  Yes.  As a tax-exempt organization, all contributions to Huron Booster Club qualify as charitable contributions.

Q.  When completed, who will have access to the use of the new field?
A.  Huron City School District curricular (e.g. Physical Education, Marching Band, etc.) and co-curricular (e.g. athletic, intramural) activities would receive priority use.  Community, civic and other requests will be accommodated through the Huron City School system.

Q. What is the field construction timeline?
A.  The Huron Booster Club anticipates work to begin in May 2008 with sub-surface excavation and drainage.  The turf will be installed immediately after sub-surface and drainage are complete.  Total length of project approximately 8-10 weeks.  The goal of the project is to have a user ready field by the start of the 2008-2009 school year.

The Huron Booster Club is a non-profit 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization.  No tax dollars will be used to fund this project.
